Biography
biography Ary, whose full name is Ariovalda Eulália Gabriel, is an Angolan singer born in Luanda in 1983. She became famous for her chameleonic style and unique performance on stage; is one of the most respected names in the world of Angolan music. Ary opts for musical genres such as kizomba, semba and soul music. She is considered one of the three most admired female voices in Angola (along with Yola Araújo and Yola Semedo). She is the second most awarded singer in the country, only behind Yola Semedo. Ary began his musical career at the age of 17, when he participated in a talent competition called “Estrelas ao Palco” in 2000. The public and judges were impressed by his powerful and charismatic voice. It won first place in the modern music category. From then on, she was invited to join the female group As Gingas do Maculusso, where she remained until 2007. With this group, she recorded two albums: “Carapinha” (2001) and “Kapuete Kamundanda” (2005). In 2007, Ary released his first solo album, “Sem Substituição”, which was a sales and critical success. The album included the hits “Pelo Menos 50”, “Você me Escangalha” and “Betinho”, which earned him several awards, such as Top Rádio Luanda, Angola Music Awards and Moda Luanda. In 2010, she released her second album, “Crescida Mas ao Meu Jeito”, which consolidated her status as a kizomba diva. The album featured guest appearances by Heavy C, Big Nelo and C4 Pedro, and included the hits “Teu Grande Amor”, “Tá Amarrado” and “Mambo Italiano”. In 2013, Ary released his third album, “Dez Estrelas”, which was considered his most mature and diverse work to date. The album explored various musical styles, such as afrobeat, zouk, pop and r&b, and featured collaborations with Anselmo Ralph, Titica, Daniel Nascimento and Paulo Flores. The album included the hits “Paga Que Paga”, “Você me Escangalha 2”, “Meu Marido” and “Dá Só”. In 2017, Ary released his fourth album, “De Coração”, which was dedicated to his deceased father. The album was produced by Sony Music and featured Badoxa, Rui Orlando and Nelson Freitas. The album included the songs “Ciúme”, “Homenagem II” (with C4 Pedro) and “Bolingo Ya Motema”. Ary is one of the most popular and influential singers in Angola, having performed in several countries in Africa, Europe and America. She is also a social activist, supporting causes such as the fight against domestic violence, children's education and the preservation of Angolan culture.
