biography Áurea Isabel Ramos de Sousa, better known as Aurea, was born in Santiago do Cacém, Portugal, on September 7, 1987. Portuguese singer, songwriter and actress, she is one of the most prominent and successful names in Portuguese music since the beginning of the 2010s. Aurea attended the Theater course at the University of Évora in 2005, where her talent for music was discovered by a friend, Rui Ribeiro. He released his first album on September 27, 2010, reaching number one on the charts in Portugal. Among her influences are names like Aretha Franklin, Joss Stone, John Mayer, Amy Winehouse, James Morrison and Zero 7. Aurea was also a mentor on the programs The Voice Portugal and The Voice Kids Portugal. Aurea’s most famous song is “Busy (for me)”. Another notable song by Aurea is “I Didn’t Mean It”, which was recorded in Las Vegas with Etta James’ former pianist and is part of an album produced by names who have worked with Beyoncé, Michael Jackson or Lenny Kravitz. This song was also ranked number 16 in the TOP 100 of 2016 and number 5 in the TOP 100 Portuguese Songs 2016. In 2016, he released two songs in Portuguese, the theme song for the TVI soap opera 'A Impostora' (2016–17), and 'Frágil'. So far, Aurea has released a total of 22 albums.
