biography Luísa Maria Vilar Braamcamp Sobral, known as Luísa Sobral, was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on September 18, 1987. Luísa Sobral is a Portuguese singer and songwriter who stood out on the music scene after composing the song “Amar dos Dois”, performed by her brother, Salvador Sobral, which won the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Luísa began her career in 2011 with the release of “The Cherry on My Cake” and has since released several albums, including “There’s A Flower In My Bedroom” (2013), “Lu-Pu-I-Pi-Sa-Pa” (2014), “Luísa” (2016), “Rosa” (2018), “Camomila” (2021) and “DanSando” (2022). Luísa Sobral has accumulated several distinctions throughout her career. During her stay in the United States, she was nominated in the Best Jazz Song categories at the Malibu Music Awards in 2008, Best Jazz Artist at the Hollywood Music Awards, International Songwriting Competition in 2007 and The John Lennon Songwriting Competition also in 2008. Furthermore, the song “Amar dos Dois”, which she composed for her brother, Salvador Sobral, won the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. She composed for artists such as Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Gisela João, Sara Correia, Mayra Andrade, among many others. In 2020, Luísa released 'Tudo Lo Que No Está', a single with Spanish singer Zahara, and debuted 'O Avesso da Canção', a podcast where she talks to big names in Portuguese music about the art of writing songs. Luísa has extensive international experience, having worked in countries such as Spain, France, Turkey, Israel, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, USA, Morocco, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Japan, Brazil and Uruguay. He performed at several festivals, including WOMAD in Adelaide (Australia), the Red Sea Winter Jazz Festival in Eilat (Israel), Barcelona Jazz Festival, Cartagena Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Cully Jazz, SXSW (Texas, USA), among many others.
