biography Marco Paulo is one of the most popular Portuguese singers, born in Mourão, Alentejo, in 1945. His real name is João Simão da Silva, but he adopted the stage name Marco Paulo because of his admiration for the American singer Marco Antonio Solís. His musical career began at the age of 18, when he participated in the Figueira da Foz Festival with the song “Vida, Alma e Coração”, placing third. Since then, he has recorded several successful albums, both in Portugal and abroad, selling more than a million copies and receiving several awards and honors. Marco Paulo is known for his romantic and sentimental songs, which talk about love, longing and hope. Some of his biggest hits are “Eu Tem Dois Amores”, “Mais e Mais Amor”, “Anita”, “Flor Sem Nome”, “Morena Morenita”, “Tara e Manias” and “Amor Total”.
